Parking Garage Hours
The State parking garage at 550 West State Street is open on daily from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm normally, and from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm during Legislative Session. If you need to access above the first level of the parking garage after hours or on weekends, contact Security at 208.334.3468 or press the call button at the elevator. Other Capitol Mall lots are available for public parking on weekends.
Bus parking in the Capitol Mall
There are no specific bus parking spaces within the Capitol Complex parking system. However, when busses do come to the Capitol Complex, such as to bring schoolchildren in for tours, etc..., they generally drop them off in front of the Capitol and then park in metered space nearby. Generally, there is room on State Street behind the Capitol Annex (either eastbound or westbound) and sometimes they find space on 6th between the Capitol and the Capitol Annex.
Metered spaces along the street
The metered parking spaces on the street are under the jurisdiction of the City of Boise, and are not a part of Capitol Mall parking. Your Capitol Mall parking tag does not allow you to park in a metered space without paying. If you receive a ticket or notice for a parking violation in a metered space, contact the City of Boise to respond to it.
Reporting safety/security issues
Use the Security request form to submit any concerns you have about parking safety or security. If your concern is urgent, you may also call us at 208.332.1949, or Capitol Mall Security at 208.334.2222 (emergencies calls). Have the following information available when you call (as applicable):
Assigned parking spaces
Assigned parking spaces are available, at a rate of $25 per month, at the Pete T. Cenarrusa Building and on the first floor of the parking structure. The number of these spaces is limited, and there is a waiting list for assignment of these spaces. See the Waiting List for more information, including a request for add form.
Carpool assigned spaces
Carpools spaces are assigned, at no charge, to vehicles carrying at least two (2) Capitol Mall employees to work on a daily basis. Upon application and approval, a space will be assigned, and a carpool parking tag issued, to the carpool vehicle. You may apply for a carpool assigned space with this carpool application.
Carpool matching
The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) offers a carpool matching service for Boise residents. You can reach them at 208.345.POOL (7665).
Changing agency of employment
You are responsible for contacting Capitol Mall Parking to arrange for your parking deduction to be transferred to your new office of employment. If you do not arrange the transfer, you may be required to pay for any lost deductions.
Additional vehicles
Your green tag may be transferred to a different vehicle if you own more than one. If you will use the second vehicle regularly, you must register the license number of the second vehicle with Capitol Mall Parking. Alternately, you may purchase an additional tag for the second vehicle.
Why is there a Security officer directing traffic in the parking garage?
An officer is stationed in the garage during peak hours to help assure that vehicles are able to enter and leave the garage safely. There are several intersections in the garage where it is somewhat difficult to see, and the officer is there to help make sure someone doesn't run into you!
Towing of vehicles
You may have noticed that towing signs have been placed at Capitol Mall parking areas. Towing is considered to be a LAST resort to resolve parking infractions. In incidents where a vehicle is in violation of the parking regulations, the vehicle will receive a warning citation. Repeated violations may result in ticketing. In rare cases where it is determined a vehicle may need to be removed, every effort will be made to contact the owner prior to towing.
Paying for Long-Term Temporary Permits
Payment for long-term temporary permits is required at the time the permit is acquired. We cannot bill an agency for the permit, although a receipt will be provided for payment, and a person may be able to submit the receipt to their agency for reimbursement, at the discretion of each agency.
