Conservation Efforts

Executive Order 2005-12, “Energy Conservation Consideration in State Buildings,” was issued on July 29, 2005, by Governor Dirk Kempthorne. The order specifies 14 energy-saving measures that apply to all state buildings and facilities throughout Idaho, leased and owned. See also Governor's press releases, and the Idaho Public Utilities Commission website.

This page is provided as a tool for agencies and individuals in implementing energy-saving measures in their work spaces. Topics relating to the 14 specific energy saving measures, as stipulated in the Governor's Executive Order, are described in greater detail below, and suggestions are offered for implementing them. The measures were based on recommendations by a multi-agency working group coordinated through the Department of Administration.

If you have further questions about energy conservation in the Capitol Mall or in state buildings and facilities throughout Idaho, write to ric.johnston@adm.idaho.gov.

This information, while provided for State agencies, is applicable to other businesses and even homes. Energy conservation is something that we can all help to assure, both in our work and at our homes.
