Medicare Part D Creditable Coverage Notice

The State of Idaho has determined that the prescription drug coverage on all of the Active and Retired Employee medical plans is creditable. Creditable means that the amount this prescription drug coverage is expected to pay (on average) is as much as what the standard Medicare prescription drug coverage (Medicare Part D) will pay. Group Insurance Open Enrollment: May 12 - 28, 2008

This year's Open Enrollment period for medical and dental coverages will be May 12 through May 28. During this period, you may switch from one medical plan to another, add previously declined dependent dental coverage, change your pre- or post-tax premium withholding status, or enroll/re-enroll in the Flexible Spending Account program.

Insurance for State Employees and Their Families

Insurance for State Employees and Their Families defines who is eligible for medical, dental, and life insurance benefits. Details about available insurance plans, as well as instructions to change plans or dependents enrolled in a plan, are provided in the Employee Insurance Handbook. Insurance Continuation while on Disability describes how qualified State employees may continue medical and dental insurance coverage for up to 30 months after the date of disability. Disability benefits also include basic life insurance coverage (at no cost to you) and supplemental life insurance coverage, if enrolled, for the duration of your approved disability claim.

Employees Called to Active Duty can continue their enrollment in medical, dental, and life insurance policies while serving on active duty.

COBRA describes how terminated employees, or employees and dependents losing eligibility for coverage under the group medical and dental plans, may be eligible to continue coverage for a period of time.

Blue Cross of Idaho's WellConnected Program

As a benefit of their medical plan, State of Idaho employees and their families now have access to Blue Cross of Idaho's WellConnected program. WellConnected is an interactive online program featuring a Personal Health Assessment tool, an online health encyclopedia and comparison tools which allow members to compare drug costs and potential interactions, among other features.
