Cutting of Idaho State Capitol Holiday Tree – November 16th

WHAT:

Cutting of the Idaho State Capitol Holiday Tree.

WHEN:

Tree cutting will take place on Tuesday, November 16th beginning at approximately 8:30 a.m. Following the cutting, the tree will be transported to the Statehouse, arriving between 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon. (Official Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. November 30, 2004. Tracy Wilde, Office of the Governor, is coordinating the Ceremony activities).

WHERE:

The tree was donated by Clinton (deceased) and Ruth White, and will be cut at 2410 Jean Street (near the cross of Vista Avenue and Kootenai; access off Vista or Columbia). The tree is a Blue Spruce and is approximately 50 feet in
height, but will be cut to approximately 35 feet. (Trees in recent years have been Blue Spruces).

Boise City Police are escorting the truck in transporting the tree via Federal Way and Capitol Boulevard to the Capitol Building.

The following entities are donating support for this endeavor:

• Crane West of Boise is providing a crane for lifting the tree onto the trailer and into place on the Statehouse steps.
• The Idaho Department of Lands is providing sawyers to cut the tree.
• The Idaho Department of Transportation is providing a truck, trailer, and driver to transport the tree.
• H&E Equipment Services of Boise is providing a man-lift for tree decoration and removal.
• The Department of Administration -- Facilities Services crew will put the tree in place, and decorate it with over 10,000 lights.
