BOISE, ID - Pam Ahrens, Director of the State of Idaho Department of Administration under the past two Administrations has been elected to serve as President of the National Association of State Chief Administrators (NASCA) for its 2000-2001 year.
Ahrens accepted the leadership role during the organization's annual conference held recently at Williamsburg, Va. She has been active in NASCA having served as its Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Member of its Executive Committee. She has also been actively involved on the NASCA Awards and Finance Committees.
The Department of Administration's mission is to serve Idaho citizens through effective services to their government agencies. The department provides business management and administrative services through its major division operations in public works, purchasing, state employee insurance and liability management, and information technology and communication services. She was re-appointed by Governor Dirk Kempthorne to the Cabinet Level position in 1998, continuing her successful service in the executive agency role following her initial appointment in 1995 by former Governor Batt.
She is also Chairman of the Information Technology Resource Management Council, which is responsible for strategic development and implementation of information technology on a statewide basis.
NASCA is a national organization of chief officers of administrative services in all 50 states, the U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. Formed in 1976, NASCA promotes interstate communications and showcases innovative programs; and helps members to implement public policy and to improve government efficiency and effectiveness.
